California Gurls

Shoeistas,

Unless you have lived in a cave for the past 4 years, then you have heard about a little reality show called "The Hills". It is a show you either love or hate....no lukewarm feelings here (especially when it comes to Speidi drama)! Whether you love or hate it, you have to admit that the fashion is pretty great. Since tonight brings the end of "The Hills" (and the fact that Katy Perry's California Gurls plays 24/7 on the radio) I bring you a post that highlights California fashion.

When I was looking at California street style, I noticed a lot of different types of shoes from boots (yes, even in summer), gladiators, flats and demi wedges.

BOOTS: Lindsay Lohan has been wearing a lot of boots recently on the California streets (mainly to hid her ankle jewelry). The great thing about boots is that they transition smoothly from summer to fall to winter to spring. These Jessica Simpson ROSANNA boots are great because they are one color (light tan) that makes them easily wearable. They aren't too western-y that you can only wear them for Halloween (we have all seen those boots). You can really wear these with every outfit for a look that is comfortably chic.

HOW TO WEAR: To be California chic, wear these boots with dresses, baggy white tees and jeggings tucked in, and a flannel shirt with distressed jean shorts (especially if you are channeling the Wild Wild West). In the colder months wear them with long leggings and long shirts and with tights under dresses and even shorts. The possibilities for this boot is endless and the best part is that the price is under $100.

The rest of the shoes that are featured below are all sandals and are all UNDER $50!!

SANDALS: 1. The first sandal is another one from Jessica Simpson: the GALIAS. The dark tan color and gold metal details are perfection and looks a lot more expensive than $49.99! This sandal will also be big in Spring 2011 when shoes with lots of buckles will be "in".

2. The next two sandals are from Blowfish, a Malibu company, so they really know everything about California style. The LIFE sandals from Blowfish come in both Black and Mahogany, feature 2 medallion details that will have everyone looking at your feet and at $29.99 they are a steal!

The LIV from Blowfish give a cool spin to casual style. These also come in both Black and Dark Brown. The LIV are easy to slip-on with a back zipper and offers a custom, comfortable fit because the upper is an elastic fabric. At only $19.97, these sandals are the lowest price out of all the shoes featured.

3. If you want a little height, stud embellishments and want to spend less than $20 then look no further than the DYLANN demi-wedge from Rampage. This demi-wedge comes in 3 colors: Natural, Cognac and Black (in order from lightest color to darkest).

HOW TO WEAR: You can wear all these sandals with pretty much the same thing listed under BOOTS. These especially look great with girlie dresses (short and long), jeggings, skinny jeans, straight-leg jeans (cuffed to the ankle), shorts and skirts. DO NOT wear these sandals with pants that are boot-leg or wide because you will not see the sandals. And unless your legs are 10-feet long, wearing flats with those type of pants will just make you look stumpy.

Whether you are sad (or happy) to see "The Hills" end tonight, just channel California Gurls next time you are out and about for a laid-back, cool, effortless style.

XOXO,

Shoe Guru
