Gladiators: In or out?

Shoeistas,

My frugalista friend asked me yesterday if the gladiator trend was ending soon. She has not bought gladiators yet because she thought this was a short-term trend (her short-term definition= one summer season). My friend only buys shoes when they have passed the test of time (hence "frugalista friend"). I call her frugal and she calls herself a frugalista (which is not a bad thing to be in this economy).

This trend lasted longer than many thought it would. So what's the verdict? In or out?

The gladiator trend burst onto the fashion scene and on celebrities feet in 2008 and is still HOT for the 2010 Summer and Fall seasons. For Spring 2011, the variations of the gladiator sandal will be more popular with the masses than the traditional gladiator. These variations include ankle strap sandals and sandals with multiple straps and buckles.

In my opinion, gladiators are like leopard print and aviators. Trends may come that are more popular but they go..whereas those 3 are timeless. I will still be sporting my gladiators proudly well into 2011. Gladiators are not only comfortable but they go with every outfit...especially girlie dresses!! Why would I want to give those up? For those of you brave enough to wear white after Labor Day..I encourage you to wear your gladiators with me: 2010 and beyond!

For those of you who still haven't bought your gladiators or want new pairs check out these cool sandals for under $30!

This Bungaloo sandal from Madden Girl comes in both Black and Brown.

If you want a gladiator with more height check out the Whizz from Madden Girl! The great thing about the Whizz is that the straps are multi-colored so these truly go with every outfit. These also come in both Black and Brown.

If you want to get a head start on the Spring 2011 ankle-strap trend then get the Create from Madden Girl. They come in a great pewter so you can wear them with EVERY color and they have cool bead and stud details. You will instantly "create" chic outfits when you slip these on!

If you are still hesitant, I will let you in one a little secret of mine. If you only wear these shoes 10 times, then you will have paid $2.99 each time you wear them. How cheap is that? For any thing you want to buy but are hesitant for how expensive they are then just divide the price by the number of times you think you will wear it. For example, $29.99/10= $2.99! What a steal.

XOXO,

Shoe Guru
